LCO Week 4 Preview: Kanga and Mammoth

This preview proudly presented by Energizer

A challenging third week saw us take down two title contenders, with Tuesday’s top-of-the-table clash with the Dire Wolves reminiscent of the numerous historic battles the teams have fought. The two wins pushes us two games clear at the top of the table, a lead we’re only looking to build upon when we take on both Kanga Esports and MAMMOTH this week.

Chiefs vs Kanga Esports (Monday 27th June, 9pm AEST)

The last match of the LCO’s first round robin of the split has us looking to complete the set of taking down every team in the competition — and standing in our way are Kanga Esports. Since acquiring and rebranding from Legacy Esports late last year, the bouncy boys in orange have yet to take us down, and we’re hoping that continues for the rest of the year.

Kanga have scored wins over both Gravitas and MAMMOTH, but haven’t yet been able to take down any of the top five teams in the LCO to break into playoff territory. However, the arrival of a new coach may herald changing fortunes for the developing roster — but hopefully that’s not while they’re on the Rift against us later today. We’re rapidly building momentum as we continue our road towards Melbourne, and a strong performance to round out the first round robin will keep the Chiefs train chugging along.

Chiefs vs MAMMOTH (Tuesday 28th June, 8pm AEST)

After heroically triumphing over PEACE in Week 2, MAMMOTH has been on the up. While they’ve dropped games to the Dire Wolves and Kanga since then, last Tuesday’s win over Gravitas has meant they’ve pulled even in the last two games. That alone puts them in good stead for the season, as they’ve showed

However, while the MAMMOTH may have escaped from the hunters over at PEACE and Gravitas, we’re not going to be so lenient. After blowing them away back in the first game of the season, the boys are ready to move our win counter against MAMMOTH to two as we launch into the second round robin of the split. Our second matchup may be a little spicier than when we last met, but the consistent form we’ve shown should be enough to pick up our eighth win on the trot.

Tune in tonight and tomorrow over at twitch.tv/lco as our hunt continues for a long-awaited return to the international stage!
