LCO Week 8 Preview: Order and Gravitas
A big week looms for our League of Legends squad, with a win in our first match of the week locking us first place in the split with five games in hand — bringing us even closer to a return to the live stage when LCO Finals are played at Dreamhack Melbourne. With a phenomenal 15-0 record so far this split, the focus is on closing out these last six games and looking onwards to playoffs.
Chiefs v Order (Monday 25th July, 9pm AEST)
We’ve got a top-of-the-table grudge match to kick off our week, as we take to the Rift once more against Split 1 champions Order. We’ve been able to best them twice so far this split, and claiming the hat trick will cement our minor championship for the second split in a row. A recent run of form has put them in good stead, with a 1-2 record in Super Week galvanising them to a now four-game winstreak.
However, we’re looking at placing an order to send Order back down into the pack, as a win here would give the clump of teams vying for playoff spots the opportunity to sneak into that coveted second-place position. Eyes should be on the top and bottom lanes, with matchups between Topoon and BioPanther as well as Raes and Puma sure to be explosive.
Chiefs v Gravitas (Tuesday 26th July, 8pm AEST)
The penultimate game of the week is set to be a battle between the lossless and the winless as we take on Gravitas for the third and final time this split. They’ve been unable to achieve liftoff so far this split, losing out on a few early game leads to superior scaling and teamfighting, and now languish at the bottom of the table facing down the barrel of the wooden spoon.
They’ve been able to find the little victories however, with ADC Thomas Shen recently hosting an AMA on Reddit following the announcement that the team was the first globally to be eliminated from Worlds contention. While our dear readers are welcome to track down and have a read through that thread, this is a game preview — so watch our boys look to knock down another regional record or two en route to keeping our perfect record against Gravitas intact.
